      My family (wife and 2 kids under 12) and I are moving to Spain next year. We hope to secure residency and believe we will have access to Spain’s free healthcare system.

      Should I also consider private health care cover for my family? Will things like dental work be covered?

        While the Spainish public healthcare system is great, it still suffers huge waiting lists. Waits of months or more before seeing a specialist or have an operation.

        My recommendation would be get private health insurance cover. Based on my personal experience, the staff show greater care, and take more time with each patient, without seeming stressed.

        Also, dental work in Spain does not fall under the public care system and has to be paid in full…unless you have private heath cover!
