What is healthcare like in Greece? We are looking to move to either Crete or Kefalonia.
We will be securing full residency rights, with our move to Greece. But should we still get private healthcare cover?
Currently based in the UK.

Called ESY, it is provided free to all citizens and residents of Greece. While the public healthcare system is great. Private healthcare provides these extra benefits
– shorter waiting times
– less language issues in rural locations
– access to better healthcare in rural locations
– access to a wider network of healthcare specialistsAnd while the public healthcare system covers most bills, you still need to pay for prescriptions. So if you are an expat with ongoing health issues, private cover might be a better way of covering costs.
I hope this helps
