General › Legal & Visas › Can you use power of attorney in another country?
I have plans to buy an overseas property, but work commitments will mean that I won’t be able to travel out.
Can I use power of attorney in another country?
If your LPA (lasting power of attorney) or EPA (enduring power of attorney) has been registered with the relevant authorities, in some situations it may be possible that it will be acceptable in that country. It varies from country to country, so you will have to get advice on whether it will be accepted.
Some countries permit you to setup power of attorney with a local lawyer without visiting the country. Again you will need to get advice and be aware of the risks.
