Like many I’ve fallen in love with Italy after many holidays over the years.

What are the rules on buying a property in Italy with a view to getting residency?

      Any advice much appreciated!

        Hi Elodie,

Buying a property in Italy is one of the preferred ways to get Italian Residency through investment.

Applicants can apply for a permanent residence permit after 5 years of residence in Italy. Then after 10 years from the initial visa being granted, investors can apply for citizenship.

If you are an EU citizen, you can achieve residency after only 4 years.

        FYI, Italy allows dual citizenship.

        Good luck

Elodie , you can even , ask a  < residenza elettiva > , if you are eu citizens in 1/2 moths , if not , about 10/12 months  – no tax payment in Italy , and you can even buy as < prima casa > , 2% purchase tax – No property tax ( IMU ) , on yr’s italian home –
