Land with about 80 hectares located just over 1km north of the village of São Bartolomeu de Messines and confronted with the gully of the dam Funcho to the north and the railway line to the east. The IC1 is less than 500m away from the limits of the estate.
The hillfort is located at its highest point, at the geodesic vertex, at an elevation of 180 metres. The eastern slopes are relatively steep and the opposite slopes are moderately to weakly sloping, carved out of schist soils of the Hesperic massif.
The soils are mainly of type Ex, i.e. “incipient litholic soils of schist or grauvaques climates”.
It is currently partly occupied by stone pine forest, planted in contour lines and densely populated by scrub.
Its proximity to the lake’s gully gives it good potential, due to the availability of water and from a landscape point of view, in addition to its location, with excellent access.
